Milan Church Feast 2016 held

On 10th April 2016, the Annual Feast of St. Mary in Milan was held.

 

The Chief Celebrant was Rt. Rev. Monsignor Neville Joe Perera, National Coordinator for Srilankan Catholics and Clergy in Italy.

 

Msgr. Neville focused his homily to the story of this Catholic Community which is one of the oldest after Rome.

 

"This Community is very closed to Mother Mary so that is why they wanted to celebrate Her as Patronal Feast"; He said.

 

The Catholic community of Milan is the largest in Italy and counts over 20.000 Srilankans. 

 

This is the last feast organized by Rev. Malcolm Perera who concluded this Mission term in Italy as Chaplain to the Metropolitan city of Milano. The priest has been appointed by the Archbishop of Colombo to be the next Archdiocesan Chaplain to Youth Apostolate.

 

We note you that the Ecclestical Chaplaincy to Milan includes spiritual service to the city of Como and Varese too.

 

The next scheduled event is the National rally at Padua which will take place as usual on 1st May at the Basilica of St. Anthony,the partecipation of the Archbishop of Colombo and the Bishop of Kurunegala is confirmed even this year.
