Episcopal Consecration of His Lordship Bishop Emmanuel of as new Bishop of Trincomalee

On 25th July Bishop - elect Emmanuel Noel received the consacretion to the episcopate by the
Bishop emeritus of Trincomalee Rt. Rev. Bishop Kingsley Swampillai at an open space set up at
grounds of St. Joseph College - Trincomalee.
The co-consecrators were the Bishop of Batticaloa Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Ponniah and Rt. Rev.
Bishop Raymond Kingsley, the Bishop of Galle.
His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo, the Apostolic Nuncio and Bishops
of Sri Lanka also partecipated at the Holy Mass.
His Lordship Bishop Emmanuel Noel previously served as Episcopal Vicar and Procurator of the
same diocese.
With a past as Professor at National Seminary and Dean of Theology and Philosophy
faculties, He is given the resposibility over 19,606 catholics (13 parishes) with the support of 36
